The short version. Sulba is a free website for learning by watching things work. Use it to learn; don't misuse it or try to break it. It's provided as it is, without guarantees — check anything that matters, and take care when you build circuits. These terms are the full agreement, and they're governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
#1. Who we are, and this agreement
This website, including its lessons, films, drawings, code and accounts (together, the Service), is made and run by Sulba (Sulba, we, us), an independent studio based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. These Terms of Use (the Terms) are a legal agreement between you and us.
By using the Service you accept these Terms. When you create an account you are asked to confirm that you agree to them and have read our Privacy Policy; we keep a record of which version you agreed to and when. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
#2. Who can use the Service
- Anyone may read and watch the Service without an account.
- To create an account you must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, or under the age at which you can agree to the processing of your personal information on your own (for example, 14 in Québec, and up to 16 in some countries of the European Union), you may create an account only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
- You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so by the laws that apply to you.
#3. The Service, and changes to it
The Service is free. It is an educational resource made by one person, and we may add to it, change it, pause it, or stop offering any part of it, at any time and without notice. We have no obligation to keep any lesson, feature or account available, and we are not liable to you if we do not.
#4. Your account
- An account is optional. It keeps your learning progress in step across your devices.
- You sign in with a link sent to your email address, or through Google or GitHub. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account, or that Google or GitHub account, secure — anyone who can use it can sign in as you.
- Give us an email address that is yours and that you are entitled to use.
- Tell us straight away if you believe someone else has used your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from the account card on the NeetCode 150 or Calculus page. Deleting it erases your progress from our database; it cannot be undone.
- We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these Terms, puts the Service or other people at risk, or has been unused for a long time.
#5. Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to help anyone else to:
- break any law, or infringe anyone’s rights, in using the Service;
- try to get into another person’s account or data, or test, probe or get around the Service’s security or access rules;
- interfere with or overload the Service, including by automated requests, scraping at a rate that burdens it, or creating accounts automatically;
- copy, republish, sell or commercially exploit the Service’s content except as these Terms allow (section 7);
- present the Service’s content as your own, or remove notices of who made it;
- use the Service to send spam, malware or anything harmful.
#6. Educational content — please read
Learn from it; don’t rely on it blindly. We work hard to make every lesson correct — every solution is run against test cases, and every figure is computed rather than typed — but we are human and mistakes are possible.
- The Service is for general education. It is not professional, engineering, financial, academic or career advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified teacher, an official course, or an examining body’s own materials.
- Exam-style questions on the Service are our own, written in the style of exam papers. They are not taken from, endorsed by, or affiliated with any exam board, school or university, and we make no promise about any exam result.
- Coding problems follow the NeetCode 150 list and the problems on LeetCode; the statements are written in our own words. Practising them does not guarantee any interview outcome or job.
- Code on the Service is provided for learning. Test it yourself before using it anywhere it matters; you are responsible for any use you make of it.
- Content may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Where accuracy matters to you, check it against an authoritative source.
#7. Electronics and physical safety
Building circuits carries real risks. Batteries, power supplies, and components can short, overheat, burn, explode, or start fires; some can cause electric shock. Never work on mains (wall) electricity from these lessons.
- The Electronics lessons explain ideas; they are not instructions certified for any purpose. If you build anything, you do so at your own risk.
- Follow every component’s rated limits and its maker’s safety instructions, use eye protection, and never leave a working circuit unattended.
- Anyone under 18 should build circuits only with an adult’s supervision.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any injury, damage or loss that results from building, using or modifying anything described on the Service.
#8. Who owns what
The Service and everything we made for it — its text, lessons, drawings, films, animations, code, sound, design and the Sulba name and mark — belong to Sulba and its founder and are protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to view the Service and use what you learn from it for your own learning, including to try the example code and adapt it in your own work.
You may share links to any page. You may not, without our written permission, copy or republish our films, drawings, lessons or written content in bulk, use them commercially, or use them to train or build a product that competes with the Service.
Some names, works and materials on the Service belong to others and are used with credit; see Acknowledgements. Those owners do not endorse us, and these Terms give you no rights in their names or works.
If you send us ideas, suggestions or corrections, we may use them freely and without owing you anything; thank you.
#9. Other websites and services
The Service links to other websites and lets you sign in with Google or GitHub. We don’t control those services and are not responsible for them; your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
#10. No warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT YOUR PROGRESS OR OTHER DATA WILL BE PRESERVED.
#11. Limit of our liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROGRESS, PROFITS, OPPORTUNITY, GOODWILL OR REPUTATION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, HOWEVER CAUSED AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE; AND (b) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO ONE HUNDRED CANADIAN DOLLARS (CA$100).
Some places do not allow some of these exclusions or limits. Where that is so, they apply only as far as the law there allows, and nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — or takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
#12. Your responsibility to us
To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claims, losses, liabilities and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
#13. Ending this agreement
You may stop using the Service, and delete your account, at any time. We may suspend or end your access at any time if you break these Terms or if we stop offering the Service. Sections 6 to 8 and 10 to 15 continue to apply after this agreement ends.
#14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we will say so on the Service, and account holders will be asked to agree to the new version the next time they sign in. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
#15. Law, disputes and the rest
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
- Courts. Any dispute will be heard by the courts in Toronto, Ontario, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer who lives elsewhere, you keep any right your local law gives you to bring proceedings in your own courts.
- Talk to us first. Before starting any formal claim, please write to us and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
- Whole agreement. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy and the Cookies & Storage page, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced as far as it can be, and the rest remains in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to someone who takes over the Service.
- Events beyond control. We are not responsible for any failure caused by events reasonably beyond our control.
- Language. These Terms are written in English, and the English version governs.
